Lesson 16

Lesson 16

Year 1

In this lesson, children build on their understanding of subjects, verbs, and extra information by learning how to add when something happened. Through clear modelling and structured practice, pupils see how sentences can be expanded to show when events take place, helping them add detail and improve sentence fluency. The lesson begins with a short recap of complete sentences before introducing when as another way to add extra information. Pupils then compose their own sentences using picture prompts and differentiated levels of support.
