This activity is designed to help pupils develop secure control over where sentences should end and how ideas can be joined clearly and accurately.

Each activity presents pupils with pairs of closely related clauses that must be correctly separated using appropriate punctuation. Pupils decide whether a full stop or comma is required and, where appropriate, explore alternative ways of joining ideas, such as coordinating conjunctions or other sentence-level choices.
